Whether you lost money through UPI fraud, fake investment schemes, online shopping fraud, or job scams โ immediate action dramatically improves your chances of recovery. This guide tells you exactly what to do.
Step 1 โ Call 1930 Immediately
1930 is the National Cyber Crime Helpline. Call within the first few hours of the fraud. Trained officers can freeze the fraudster’s account before the money is withdrawn. This is your single most important action โ do not delay.
Step 2 โ Report at cybercrime.gov.in
File a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in โ the official National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Select “Financial Fraud” under category. Enter all transaction details, fraudster’s contact details, screenshots, and bank account details if known. Save your complaint number.
Step 3 โ Contact Your Bank
Call your bank’s customer care immediately and report the fraud. Ask for a chargeback or freeze of the fraudulent transaction. Banks have a 24-hour window to initiate recovery in many UPI fraud cases. Full UPI fraud guide: UPI Fraud Complaint India โ Get Your Money Back.
